NAHL update: Fairbanks wins, Kenai River loses, and so it goes

Saturday furnished a microcosm of the NAHL season for Alaska's two entries, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Kenai River Brown Bears.

The Ice Dogs flourished, the Brown Bears floundered.

Fairbanks used two goals each from Hans Gorowsky (he also had a helper) and Todd Burgess on the way to a 5-2 win over visiting Coulee Region. Fairbanks is 28-13-3, one point behind the division-leading Minnesota Wilderness in the Midwest.

Meanwhile, in Soldotna, the Brown Bears got pumped 9-3 by the Wenatchee Wild. After Kenai River bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to gain a 2-2 tie, Wenatchee reeled off six straight goals bridging the second and third periods. Maurin Bouvet scored twice for Kenai River and Alex Jackstadt had two assists. But the Brown Bears sit last in the Midwest at 13-29-2.
