CIC hockey tournament begins Monday

The Cook Inlet Conference hockey tournament, which will decide which four Anchorage teams advance to the state tournament, begins Monday with two games.

Top-seeded Service, the regular-season champion, faces eighth-seeded Bartlett in a 6:30 p.m. game at Ben Boeke Arena. At 7:15 p.m. at the McDonald Center, fourth-seeded West meets fifth-seeded Eagle River.

First-round action continues Tuesday with two more games. Second-seeded Dimond plays seventh-seeded East in the 6:30 p.m. game at Ben Boeke, and third-seeded South takes on sixth-seeded Chugiak in the 7:15 p.m. game at the McDonald Center.

Monday's and Tuesday's winners all receive spots in next week's state tournament.

First-round winners also advance to semifinal play on Thursday. Semifinal losers will play for third place at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Ben Boeke, and semifinal winners will advance to Saturday's 6:30 p.m. championship game at Ben Boeke.
