Juvenile medevaced after Wasilla single-vehicle crash

A juvenile was medevaced to an Anchorage hospital on Monday afternoon after her car collided with a light pole and then slid down an embankment, according to Alaska State Troopers.

At 1:17 p.m. Monday, troopers responded to a report of a car crash on Pittman Road, across from the Meadow Lakes Fire Department.

The 17-year-old female driver of the vehicle, a 1994 Ford Expedition, had lost control on the icy road and skidded into a light pole, troopers said. Her vehicle then continued down an embankment where it hit a tree.

The driver, who troopers said was wearing a seat belt, was medevaced by LifeMed Alaska to Providence Hospital in Anchorage to be treated for injuries sustained to her face.

She was issued a misdemeanor summons for driving in violation of instructional permit and a citation for "basic speed."

The vehicle was totaled, troopers said.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misidentified the company performing the medevac. It has been updated to reflect the accurate information.
