Klancher, Sharrock spark Service hockey to 4-0 win over Dimond

Ronan Klancher stopped 28 shots and Blaine Sharrock bagged two goals Friday night to propel Service to a 4-0 victory over Dimond in the third-place game of the Cook Inlet Conference hockey tournament at Ben Boeke Arena.

The victory gave the Cougars, the conference's regular-season champs, the CIC's third seed in next week's state tournament in Wasilla. Dimond, runner-up in the regular season, will be the conference's No. 4 seed.

West and South play for the conference championship Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Ben Boeke. Also at stake is the conference's first and second seeds for state.

Leo Karcz and Matt Stone each added goals for Service, and Brad Kuper furnished two assists.

Dimond's Chris Gardeline and Darin Hammingh combined for 43 saves.

Service and Dimond on Thursday both fell to lower seeds in the CIC semifinals. Fourth-seeded West beat top-seeded Service 7-4 and third-seeded South beat second-seeded Dimond 1-0.
