Troopers investigate Kotlik homicide

Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death of a 28-year-old Kotlik man found dead over the weekend as a homicide, trooper spokesperson Megan Peters said.

In an online dispatch, troopers reported that shortly before midnight Saturday, officers in Emmonak were notified that Jerald Fancyboy was found unresponsive, and declared dead by village police and health aides.

AST's major crimes unit and troopers from St. Mary's traveled to Kotlik to investigate Fancyboy's death.

Because the investigation remains open, Peters said, she could not provide additional information.

Fancyboy's body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, troopers said. His next of kin have been notified.

Kotlik, a village on the Yukon River delta, is about 165 air miles northwest of Bethel.
