Weather forces ski races to scramble

Rain and warm weather forced the UAA ski team to call off alpine and nordic races Tuesday.

Classic-technique races at Kincaid Park were moved from Tuesday to Wednesday.

And because Kincaid's stadium area is a giant puddle of water, the start and finish of Wednesday's races has been moved from the stadium to the biathlon range, which has adequate man-made snow.

Meanwhile, slalom races that were supposed to happen Tuesday at Alyeska Ski Resort won't be rescheduled.

The races were FIS-sanctioned events but were not part of this week's Seawolf Invitational. The invitational's two alpine events -- a Wednesday giant slalom and a Thursday slalom -- are expected to go on as planned.
