East girls celebrate senior night in style with another CIC hoops win

Every East player scored in the T-birds' 56-38 win over South on senior night at East on Friday as the T-birds improved to 13-0 in the Cook Inlet Conference.

Friday's other winners in the CIC were Chugiak, Dimond and Service. The conference concludes its regular season with a full slate of four games on Saturday.

East got a team-high nine points from Tennae Voliva and eight each from Lorna Suaava and Octavia Hines.

South (8-5) got a game-high 14 points from Isabelle Lada.

Dimond 63, Bartlett 28

Dimond locked up the No. 2 seed in next week's CIC playoffs with a 63-28 win over host Bartlett.

The Lynx (11-2) got a huge game from senior Rohyn Huss, who supplied 19 points, six rebounds and seven steals. Freshman Maya Carle added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Tiffany Michaels had eight points and Tala Lauvale scored seven to lead Bartlett (2-11), which got nine rebounds from Sudana Moyong.

Chugiak 55, West 40

Chugiak knocked down 10 3-pointers in its 55-40 win over West at Chugiak.

Randi McMullen scored a team-high 14 points for the Mustangs (9-4), who also got 12 from Ashlynn Burgess, 10 from Nicole Pinckney and nine from Julia Turner.

Theyoung Puoy scored a game-high 15 points for West (5-8), which also got 11 from Marshala Eady.

Service 47, Eagle River 33

Katie Pearce led a balanced Service attack with 10 points to help the Cougars to a 47-33 home win over Eagle River.

Courtney Lepointe scored nine points for the Cougars (4-9), who also got seven points from Kyla Pearce and Rebecca Hodson, five from Lexi Holthuis and four from Nolani Fomai. Service overcame a 3-for-21 showing at the foul line by holding the Wolves to just eight field goals.

Eagle River (0-13) got a game-high 12 points from Michaela Brown. Miranda Johnson added 10 points for the Wolves, as did Shade Gopie, who hit 10 of her 14 attempts from the free throw line.

Grace, ACS fall on Peninsula

Grace Christian and Anchorage Christian each fell short on Friday night in girls basketball games on the Kenai Peninsula.

The Grizzlies dropped a 42-23 decision at Nikiski, while ACS fell 39-32 at Homer. Both teams finish their Peninsula swing Saturday, with ACS heading to Nikiski and Grace traveling to Seward.
