Where the Aces sit at the three-quarters pole

Last Saturday's 6-2 loss at Colorado marked Game No. 54 for the Alaska Aces -- that's the three-quarter pole in the ECHL's 72-game season.

The setback put the Aces at 26-23-5, which ties for the worst mark at the three-quarter pole in the club's dozen seasons on the circuit.

You hard-core types in the Cowbell Crew can probably guess which season this matches -- yep, the 2009-10 season, the only one in 11 previous seasons in which the Aces failed to escape the first round of the playoffs. Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Aces are currently out of playoff position. They are on pace to become the first defending Kelly Cup champion to fail to make the playoffs the following season.

Anyhow, here's how the Aces have done historically at the 54-game mark:
