Cook Inlet Conference soccer's opening day in The Dome

GIRLS SOCCER

South 3, West 1

Junior Sofia Velez and freshman Jordan Foraker scored first-half goals and senior Erin Stuart scored late in the second half Saturday to spark the defending state champion South girls to a 3-1 season-opening soccer win over West at The Dome.

Velez scored off Ashtyn Evans' corner kick and Foraker pounced on a Megan Currier rebound. Stuart scored on a penalty kick.

Service 6, Eagle River 0

Haleigh Van Allen's hat trick spearheaded the Service girls to a season-opening 6-0 victory over Eagle River at The Dome.

Sheyanne Bertrand scored twice for the Cougars, Aislinn Waite added a goal and Brianna Linnell bagged the shutout.

Chugiak 2, East 0

Alexis Trombley post a shutout and Chugiak used goals in each half to earn a 2-0 victory over East at The Dome.

Madeline Eliassen scored the first-half goal off a corner kick from her sister, Michelle, and Carson Head scored a second-half goal off a corner from Briana Romesha.

BOYS SOCCER

Service 6, Eagle River 1

Senior captain Johnny Yoon scored twice to help the Service boys deliver a 6-1 win over Eagle River in a season-opening soccer match at The Dome.

Brady Graff, another captain, opening the scoring on a bicycle kick in the eighth minute. Service also received goals from Azzam Azzam, Japeth Taylor and John Anebom.

South 4, West 1

Blake Hepler's hat trick helped South's boys generate a 4-1 victory over West in a season-opening match at The Dome.

Adam Skelton added a goal for the Wolverines and Wesley Chien assisted on three goals.
