At least two Alaska Airlines flights at the Juneau International Airport were delayed after a pilot found a single bullet while walking on a Jetway, police said.
The Juneau Police Department was notified earlier Tuesday and took possession of the bullet, described as "small-caliber."
Alaska Airlines flights 61 and 62 were later allowed to depart following searches of their interiors and the airport's departure lounge, said airport manager Patty deLaBruere.
How the bullet ended up in the jetway is under investigation, she said.
Around 10:20 a.m., passengers in the lounge and on the two planes were moved while police searched the area. Juneau police said the lounge was searched and "no unauthorized items were found."
The affected passengers went back through security screening beginning shortly after 11 a.m.
No other items of concern were found on the planes, deLaBruere said.
Bullets are not allowed as carry-on items. Ammo can be permitted inside checked luggage, kept separate from firearms, and has to be disclosed to the airline, though rules differ among companies, she said.
