Zoe Hickel and Team USA go for gold Saturday

Zoe Hickel of Anchorage, who scored a goal in Friday's semifinal blowout of Russia, and the USA women's national team go for gold Saturday when they play Canada for the gold medal at the Women's World Championship in Sweden.

Hickel's goal came in the third period of a 13-1 win over the Russians. She had three shots on goal and was +2. In three games, she owns one goal, four shots and a +1 rating.

According to USA Hockey, Hickel is the fifth Alaskan to play for the Americans at the World Championship.

Goalie Pam Dreyer of Chugiak played in 2004 and won silver.

Kim Haman of Fairbanks played in 1992 and won silver.

And Fairbanks' Heidi Chalupnik won silver in 1990.

Back to Hickel -- she earned a spot on Team USA with an impressive camp with them and a terrific senior year at Minnesota Duluth, where she bagged 19-13--32 totals in 36 games to lead the Bulldogs in goals and points.
