Troopers: Wasilla teen airlifted after dirtbike, SUV crash

A Wasilla teen was airlifted to Anchorage with serious injuries after crashing into a sport utility vehicle while riding a dirtbike Tuesday evening, Alaska State Troopers said.

In an online dispatch, troopers wrote that 18-year-old Gunar L. Cruikshank was riding a Honda CR80 west on Overby Street when he crashed into the back passenger-side door of a Ford Explorer being driven by 16-year-old Ryan N. Hanson at the intersection of Overby and Red Birch Drive at about 9:24 p.m.

Cruikshank, who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries and was flown by LifeMed helicopter to Providence Alaska Medical Center, troopers said.

Hanson was not injured, troopers wrote. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
