Goose Creek inmates charged in assault

Two inmates face assault charges after attacking another inmate at a Point MacKenzie prison over the weekend, Alaska State Troopers said.

In an online dispatch, troopers wrote that Darren Wasali punched the victim in the face, causing a large cut above the man's eye. Meanwhile another inmate, Sam Savage, punched the victim while he was on the ground, the report said. Wasali, Savage and the victim are all inmates at Goose Creek Correctional Center.

Fourth-degree assault charges have been forwarded to the Palmer District Attorney's Office, troopers wrote.

Troopers and Corrections Department officials didn't immediately respond to requests for additional information.
