Troopers: Kodiak fugitive arrested after 2 weeks at large

Acting on an anonymous tip, Alaska State Troopers found and arrested a 20-year-old Kodiak man who they'd sought for two weeks, following a pair of attacks on a woman. At the time, troopers warned that Beltran was armed and considered dangerous.

In an online dispatch, troopers wrote Bryce Beltran was arrested in Kodiak's Spruce Cape area at 9:26 p.m., Monday, after troopers received the tip about his location.

Beltran was arrested on two $25,000 warrants. The first warrant was issued for first-degree attempted assault, first-degree burglary, first-degree vehicle theft, third- and fourth-degree assault, interfering with a report of a crime involving domestic violence, fifth-degree criminal mischief, and four counts of violating conditions of his release.

The second warrant was for prior charges of third- and fourth-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal mischief, first-degree unlawful contact, interfering with a report of a crime involving domestic violence, and three counts of violating conditions of his release.

Troopers had asked for the public's help locating Beltran after an incident last month in which they said he twice assaulted a woman, then fled -- armed with a .308 rifle -- before police could respond.

Beltran was taken to the Kodiak Jail, where he was being held on $50,000 bail.
