Troopers seek Crooked Creek man after alleged drunken rampage involving ax, gun

Alaska State Troopers said they are looking for a Crooked Creek resident who went on a drunken rampage that included firing a gun and using an ax to break into a home in the Western Alaska village.

Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters said Ignattie Sakar, 33, attempted to break into a family member's house around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Sakar was reportedly intoxicated when he broke down a door to the home using an ax, and burglarized it, troopers reported in an online dispatch.

While outside the residence, Sakar fired two shots from a shotgun, Peters said. Troopers said he also threatened to shoot the people inside the home.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers and an Aniak-based village public safety officer responded to the scene Wednesday, but the suspect fled.

As of late Thursday morning, Peters said, Sakar was wanted on a $10,000 arrest warrant.

Crooked Creek is a community of about 105 residents some 50 miles northeast of Aniak and 141 miles northeast of Bethel.
