UAA distance runner Dominik Notz and hurdler Haleigh Lloyd on Monday were honored as co-Athletes of the Week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Notz, a junior, was honored for his performance Thursday at the Mt. Sac Relays in California, where he covered 10,000 meters in 29:26.29, the second-fastest time in Division II this season and the third-fastest in GNAC history. Notz's time easily met the provisional qualifier for the national meet and was 11 seconds shy of the automatic qualifier.
Lloyd, a senior, shattered her own 2012 GNAC record in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 59.20 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California on Friday. Her time was far faster than the provisional standard (1:02.40) for the national meet and just .25 shy of the automatic qualifier.
