Facebook requirements
I don't know who bought the ADN, but I find it highly insulting that one has to have a Facebook account to make comments regarding articles. Believe it or not, there are tons of people out there who don't have a Facebook account.
This certainly isn't the way to be a part of the community, or to help facilitate communication within the community.
I had written to the staff quite awhile ago asking about this policy, and to this date have not received a response. Oh, that's right, even though I actually subscribe to the newspaper, only those on Facebook matter.

Medicaid expansion is a win-win
Brent Fisher (Commentary, April 20) asks the wrong questions on Medicaid expansion. I would ask if it is more humane to provide preventive health care to as many people as possible and to provide early intervention in chronic disease both which will reduce future costs to society. Is a healthier person most likely to be productive?
Medicaid expansion is a win-win — for the health of individuals and for the economy.

Federal overreach in a welfare state
Come on state Senate. You now want to spend money on a committee to study overreach by the federal government. You would think that you had better things to do with your time and the people's money, but I guess not. If you need to study something, how about we study the amount of money the feds spend here? We are one of those welfare states that take in a whole lot more than we send to Washington. Wake up down in Juneau and stop drinking the Kool-Aid so I can stop this letter writing.

Standing up for public education
Our kids deserve stability. We shouldn't have to worry year after year if funding is there, and with the way that Juneau is headed, that's looking like a real possibility. That's why we need stability here in Anchorage. Ethan Berkowitz has been a longtime champion of public education. I know where he stands on public education.
