Beginning/Family Strings Camp

AFAA resident Suzuki artist Koy Haven invites beginning string players and their families for a summer jump start to the school year. The Suzuki method begins with listening, focuses on repetition and requires parent involvement. This nurturing and encouraging environment will help introduce students to music reading and novice musical pieces that will prepare students for their first year of orchestra.

Advanced Strings Camp

AFAA resident Suzuki artist Koy Haven invites intermediate and advanced strings to participate in this chamber ensemble style music camp. Music reading is required. This camp is designed to help with festival, solo and ensemble and fall auditions.

Magic Camp

Come learn the art of illusion from Alaska's premier magician, Don Russell. This camp includes hand magic, group work, storytelling and laughs for all ages. End of the week performances showcases students and what they have learned.

Aladdin Junior Theatre Intensive Camp

In the mornings, students receive a voice class, a dance class and an acting class. In the afternoons, students work on the show itself. The story of Aladdin is a shortened version of the Disney tale with many of the songs we all know and love.

Princesses and Pirates Theatre Camp

The AFAA cordially invites all princesses and pirates to come sing, dance, act and create. Students will learn songs from Disney's Princess and the Frog, Frozen, Peter Pan and Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. Students will have singing, acting and dance class in the morning with art class and rehearsal in the afternoon. End of the week performance on Thursday.

Legally Blonde Junior Musical Theatre Intensive

Disney's Aladdin Kids Theatre Camp

Angelina Ballerina Ballet Camp

Peace, Love and Music Rock Star Camp Alaska Summer Tour

Rock out learning your favorite classic rock songs from the 60s and 70s. Musicians and vocalists of all levels welcome, especially beginners. Students play in a group setting and receive one on one instruction. Performance will be held June 26.

The Music Machine

This six-workshop in musical theatre, directed by Janet Carr-Campbell, ends with shows at ACPA's Discovery Theatre. Kids develop teamwork and a sense of pride through song and dance. Auditions are May 9 and are not competitive.

Painting Rocks

Musicians age 12 through adult are invited to join our lively colorful marching band as we perform for Anchorage July 4. Special guests include 10 members of the University of Washington Husky Marching Band, including their drum major, who will lead us along the park strip parade route. Our conductor is Dimond High Band Director Jason Edwards. Members include students from across the city, parents dusting off their instruments to join in the fun, community band members and music teachers. Open to developing string players who have played for at least one school year. The camper will participate in orchestra rehearsals, technique, music theory, improvisation and outdoor activities. Camp is 4 days, 3 nights, all inclusive. Registration is open until full.

Age or grade level: Completed 4th-6th

Open to students who have had at least one school year of playing experiences. They will participate in orchestra rehearsals, small group instruction, fiddling, music theory and outdoor recreation. After three days and two nights, the group plays for family a demonstration of what they have learned. Registration is now open online.

Cost: $340

Age or grade level: Completed 9th-12th

Open to advancing students who have played for at least two years. There is a wide range of elective class choices along with group rehearsals, small group instruction and recreation time. Some past electives include: ballroom dancing, music in film, composition, technique, electronics in music. Campers will spend 5 days, 4 nights all inclusive in a relaxed atmosphere while reinforcing their education. The time ends with a family demonstration.

Art Kids Studio Art Camp

Art Kids Studio Art Camp emphasizes developing artistic abilities and projects. Camp Sessions can be repeated for beneficial development and new projects. Art supplies are included.
