Man accused of West Anchorage sexual assault, kidnapping arraigned

A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint, then forcing her to drive to various banks and ATMs to withdraw money with her two children in the car on Wednesday was arraigned on Saturday.

Dustin Arthur Badillo, 20, of Anchorage appeared at the Anchorage jail before Magistrate Judge Kari McCrea, who set bail at $500,000 and appointed a third-party custodian.

He was charged with three counts of kidnapping, two counts of sexual assault and one count each of burglary and robbery.

Assistant district attorney Jenna Gruenstein called Badillo a flight risk and an extreme danger to the community, and reminded the court of Badillo's existing criminal record.

He was convicted of two felonies, escape and burglary in the second degree, in connection with an attempt to rob a business east of Taku Lake in February 2014.

Badillo was appointed a public defender. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 28.
