UAA track teams sweep sprints in Oregon

Jamie Ashcroft won the 100 and 200, Rosie Smith won the 100 hurdles for the UAA women Saturday at the Mount Hood Track and Field Festival in Oregon. Ashcroft and Smith also teamed up with Alexandra Scott and Mary Kathleen Cross to win the women's 400 meter relay.

UAA swept the two shortest sprint events, as Darrion Gray won the 100 and 200 meters for the UAA men. The Seawolves also got a victories in the 400 meters from Adam Commandeur (who finished second in the 200) and from Elliott Bauer the 400 hurdles. Gray, Commandeur and Bauer joined Liam Lindsay to claim first in the 400 meter relay.

The UAA men are currently ranked No. 15 in the NCAA Division II national rankings, while the women are ranked 21st. The teams return to action May 8-9 for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships in Monmouth, Oregon.
