Two arrested in Wasilla as part of monthslong drug investigation

A monthslong investigation by the Alaska State Troopers' State Drug Enforcement Unit in the Matanuska Valley has come to a close with the arrest of two Anchorage residents, and the seizure of cash and nearly $10,000 of illegal drugs, troopers said.

On Monday, Vincenzo "Vinny" Yacovelli, 21, and Caitlynn Horton, 19, were arrested without incident near Swanson Street in Wasilla, troopers wrote in an online dispatch. During their arrest the duo was found in possession of more than 13 grams of heroin, and more than 26 grams of methamphetamine -- estimated to have a street value of $9,500 -- as well as $10,000 in cash, troopers said.

According to the dispatch, Yacovelli and Horton's arrest came at the end of a several-month investigation by the drug enforcement unit, with help from a variety of other law enforcement agencies.
