1 killed, another seriously injured in Glenn Highway crash near Palmer

One man was killed and another seriously injured in a head-on collision Saturday on the Glenn Highway near Palmer, according to Alaska State Troopers.

In an online dispatch, troopers said Oregon man Jack Watson, 79, was traveling northbound on the Glenn Saturday afternoon towing a Suzuki Samurai behind his Chevrolet Silverado pickup when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Ford F150 driven by 75-year-old Alfred Nyback of Eagle River.

Troopers were contacted about the crash shortly before 3 p.m.

Nyback was seriously injured in the accident and required a medevac to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, troopers said.

Watson was taken by ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, "where he later died," troopers said.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the incident, and both men were wearing their seatbelts, troopers said.
