Missing St. Mary's boy, 2, found dead in creek

A 2-year-old St. Mary's boy reported missing Saturday was found dead later that evening in a local creek, troopers said.

No foul play is suspected in the death.

At about 3 p.m. Saturday, troopers in St. Mary's received a report of the missing 2-year-old. Krisiane Bell reported that her son, Wiley Tall, had been last seen in the backyard playing at about 1:30 p.m., troopers said.

Troopers searched the area with volunteers from the village and diverted a trooper aircraft to search from the air. At about 7:30 p.m., "searchers began combing a creek near the house," troopers said.

The boy's body was found caught under a sunken wooden pallet in the creek, about five hours after he was reported missing.

According to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children in the state.
