Alabama angler Bradden Scott's time atop the leaderboard of the Seward Halibut Derby with his 266-pound flatfish lasted less than 48 hours.
On Monday afternoon, Michigan fisherman Mark Ramboa, Sr., knocked Scott into second place by bringing in a 291-pound halibut. Ramboa was fishing aboard the Fish House boat Perserverance.
His fish is the largest so far this summer in any of Southcentral Alaska's three major halibut derbies -- Homer, Valdez and Seward.
The Valdez Halibut Derby also saw a new leader late Monday when Scott Widdison of Meridian, Indiana, reeled in a 194-pounder on the boat Jaime Lynn.
