Around the ABL: Pilots sink Chinooks, Studs stymie Bucs

The Anchorage Glacier Pilots used a three-run eighth inning to get the upper hand during a back-and-forth 8-6 Alaska Baseball League win over the Chugiak Chinooks on Wednesday at Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak.

The Pilots led 4-2 after the first inning but fell behind 6-4 when the Chinooks plated four runs in the fourth. That's how the game stood until the eighth, when the Pilots plated a run on Kevin Viers' sacrifice fly and two more on a two-run double by Joe Wainhouse. Viers and Wainhouse each finished with two hits and two RBIs.

Wes Judish pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the win for the Pilots, who improved to 5-7. Chugiak fell to 8-3.

Studs 3, Bucs 1

Leadoff hitter Connor Cloyd went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Seattle Studs to a 3-1 nonleague victory over the Anchorage Bucs on Wednesday at Mulcahy Stadium.

Nolan Watson pitched seven scoreless innings to earn the win.
