Neko Case to play September First Tap in Anchorage

Singer songwriter Neko Case, acclaimed for her solo career and for her work with indie rock group The New Pornographers, will play Bear Tooth First Tap concert in Anchorage on Sept. 8.

Neko Case's idiosyncratic career spans country, punk, power pop, folk and indie rock. She's known for her powerful voice and songwriting that often features strange and evocative imagery.

Her most recent release was 2013's "The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You." In album review in Pitchfork, Lindsay Zoladz said, "Somehow, The Worse Things Get is Case's tightest record and also her strangest. With its off-kilter arrangements and eccentric turns of phrase, it's a world unto itself. If it has any contemporaries, they're records like Fiona Apple's The Idler Wheel… or Cat Power's Sun."

Tickets are $42 plus fees and are on sale at beartooththeatre.net. Doors are at 8 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m., Neko Case plays at 10 p.m.
