Polynesian Flag Day / Anchorage Centennial

The official Anchorage Centennial Citywide Celebration will be held this Saturday at Cuddy Park in Midtown 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Bring the family for amusement rides, fair food, historical tents and local performers including Hobo Jim and Conway Seavey. The event will also celebrate the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Polynesian Culture Flag Day, which means lots of foods, cultural dances and family activities from the diverse communities of Anchorage. Free.

Color Run: The Shine Tour

The popular fun run -- in which participants are showered with various colored powders as they pass checkpoints along the route -- is back, this time with more glitter. If you've ever wanted to sweat sparkles, this 5K is for you. Prerace party with music, dancing, warmup stretching and giveaways at the start line. 8 a.m. start at the Sullivan Arena. $45 for people in a team, $49.50 for individuals. (thecolorrun.com)

Highland Games

Watch Highland Games athletes perform feats of strengths -- including hoisting giant logs in the caber toss and throwing heavy rocks in the stone put. There will also be bagpipes and other music, Celtic dancers, Scotch tastings ($30) and other events. Admission is $5 for children, $15 for adults. 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Alaska State Fair grounds in Palmer. (alaskascottish.org)

Mountain View Street Fair

Visit Anchorage's most diverse neighborhood for a free street fair. There will be food and entertainment as well as information on health, social services and local businesses. Live music, dance performances, bouncy castles, Bird TLC and a magic show will keep families entertained. Noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Clark Middle School, 150 Bragaw St. Free.

American Kennel Club sanctioned dog show

Check out some purebred pooches as 100 different breeds compete at this American Kennel Club sanctioned dog show. Individual breed judging will start at 9 a.m. followed by group and then best-in-show judging.
