Original Story: A 54-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Glenn Highway near Muldoon Sunday night, Anchorage police said.

The accident occurred just before 8 p.m., when police say the man tried to cross the busy stretch of road west of the Muldoon overpass and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound, toward downtown Anchorage.

The pedestrian sustained head injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital. It wasn't immediately clear how severe the man's injuries were. One lane of the highway was closed for about a half hour while emergency personnel responded.
