Tok man accused in shootout faces attempted murder charges

A Tok man accused earlier in June of shooting at another driver was arrested on attempted murder charges, Alaska State Troopers said.

In an online dispatch posted Monday, troopers said 38-year-old Benjamin Macmurray was arrested June 19 on a warrant for two counts of attempted murder and first-degree misconduct involving a weapon.

Macmurray was accused in a June 3 shootout and pursuit on a back road in Tok.

At the time, troopers said Macmurray sped past another vehicle, then stopped to fire shots at it -- and pursued when the other motorist fled. Eventually, the other driver fired back with a rifle, and Macmurray abandoned the pursuit. He was later treated for a gunshot wound at the Tok Clinic.

Macmurray was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center and held without bail, troopers said.
