Palmer motorcyclist suffers 'severe head trauma' in crash

A motorcyclist in Palmer lost control while driving around a corner and crashed through a fence near Lucky Shot Lane Friday afternoon, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Kyle Snyder, a 24-year-old from Palmer, wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered severe head trauma, troopers reported in an online dispatch Friday evening.

Troopers got a call about the crash shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, according to the dispatch.

Snyder lost control negotiating a corner, troopers said. "The motorcycle and driver left the roadway becoming airborne before crashing through a small fence and coming to rest in a residential garden," troopers said.

Medical responders took Snyder to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, then by LifeMed helicopter to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. The hospital said Synder was going into the operating room around 7:50 p.m.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, troopers said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact troopers at 907-352-5401.
