A small earthquake that struck just after midnight Wednesday morning was widely felt in Alaska's Interior, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake, with a magnitude of 3.0, had an epicenter about a mile from North Pole and 12 miles from Fairbanks, the USGS said.
In a tweet, the Alaska Earthquake Center said the temblor had a depth of only about 11 miles.
It struck at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday.
It was felt widely in both communities as well as at nearby Eielson Air Force Base and Fort Wainwright, according to responses collected by the agency.
In a news report shortly after the quake, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner said there were no reports of damage.
