Anchorage's David Registe failed to advance to the finals Tuesday in the long jump competition at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.

The silver medalist at the 2011 Pan Am Games, Registe went 23 feet and one-half inch on his first jump in the qualifying round. He was well off his personal best of 26-5.5.

Registe, who competes for the Caribbean island of Dominica, didn't take a second or third jump.

Twelve jumpers advanced to Wednesday's finals, including reigning U.S. champion Jeffery Henderson, who leapt 26-10 to lead one of two qualifying rounds.

The other round was led by Marquise Goodwin, who went 26-5. Goodwin is a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills who competed in track and football at the University of Texas.
