Meet Jack, a handsome pointer-mix looking for a family who will care for his medical condition -- Jack has epilepsy but that doesn't keep him from smiling and enjoying life! This joyful dog loves to be around people and is a giant snugglebug! He walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently from your hand and has lived with children and cats. His previous family says he enjoys the dog park and loves to ride in the car. Sounds like an awesome dog, doesn't he?
So what do you need to know about epilepsy in dogs? As in humans, it is a brain disorder that causes the dog to have seizures. As you get to know your dog, you may be able to notice that he seems confused or seeks attention before a seizure. Also, seizures happen most often at night or in the early morning when the dog is resting or sleeping. Most importantly, epilepsy can be controlled with medication under careful supervision by your veterinarian.
