Former UAA alpine skier Anna Berecz on Thursday was named the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association's nominee for the 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The Hungarian, a 2014 Winter Olympian and three-time NCAA Championships qualifier, this spring won the Dresser Cup, the highest academic honor for UAA athletes. She racked a 3.99 grade-point average and earned a double major in psychology and language.
The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors a graduating female athlete for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. A total of 147 athletes have been nominated in Divisions I, II and III.
The winner will be announced Oct. 18.
