Police seek public help finding hit-and-run driver whose SUV struck cyclist

A hit-and-run collision late last week in Spenard left a bicyclist injured, and investigators are seeking public help identifying the driver.

At 11:45 a.m. Friday, a dark SUV collided with a bicyclist as the driver turned onto Spenard Road from Chugach Way, fracturing the cyclist's leg, the Anchorage Police Department said.

According to police, the motorist briefly stopped but then sped away.

The vehicle is described as a large dark blue or black SUV with tinted windows and large black aftermarket wheels.

Anyone with information on the collision is being asked to call law enforcement at 907-561-STOP.
