Body found on Anchorage mudflats identified as missing woman

Police have identified a body found on the mudflats near Kincaid Park Sunday evening as 22-year-old Nancy "Bee" Sourivong, who had been missing since Thursday.

"There is no evidence of foul play at this time," the Anchorage Police Department reported in a release Tuesday afternoon.

Sourivong was last seen by her family leaving a mobile home park on Dimond Boulevard Thursday evening. She'd told family members she was going running, according to police.

Her empty car was found at Kincaid Park the next morning. A search of the park by police and the woman's family and friends followed.

The body was first spotted on the mudflats by people searching for Sourivong Sunday afternoon, according to police. The body was recovered later that evening.

Family members wrote on a Facebook page devoted to her disappearance they don't yet know details of what happened.

"We will never be able to thank each and every one of you for sharing the information while we searched for her, and for all the love and support we have received in the last couple of days as we grieve and mourn the loss of our sister," the post read. "We hope that everyone remembers her for the kind and generous person that she was. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
