Engagement is the way forward

Kudos for Gov. Walker for accompanying the president on Air Force One.

I'm glad one of our Alaska leaders chose to positively engage the president of the United States.

The Alaska congressional delegation and Legislature might want to get a clue. Engagement can lead to better understanding of our beautiful and culturally rich state.

Why all the fuss over naming?

Why all the fuss about changing the name of Mount McKinley to Mount Denali? Cape Canaveral went from its original moniker to Cape Kennedy and back again. It's not like both these assassinated presidents aren't being honored in many other ways.

Alaska welcomes dignitaries

I believe Alaskans have been truly blessed by the high-profile visitors to our state. First was John Kerry (who served in Vietnam), then our next visitor was President Barack Obama.

I can only imagine who might be next, possibly a frequent visitor to the White House, Al Sharpton?

I can hardly wait!

Don't forget legislators' actions

How fortunate we Alaskans are that we have the law firm of Dillon & Findley that has come forward and offered to represent us pro bono in the political lawsuit, brought forth by 10 of the legislators, who are willing to spend $450,000 of our money on an Outside law firm to stop our state from providing health care to low-income, working families here in Alaska. I for one applaud the lawyers that are offering this unselfish act.

Voters please remember the legislators who so frivolously throw away our money to prove an unrealistic political point when you go to the polls.
