Troopers: Anchorage man held woman in campsite at gunpoint

An Anchorage man is facing multiple charges, including kidnapping, after he threatened a woman at gunpoint when she tried to leave their campsite in Sutton, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers on Wednesday morning received a request for a welfare check on a woman trying to leave the campsite. Investigation later revealed the man and woman had a home in Anchorage, where they were later contacted by Anchorage police, troopers wrote in an online dispatch.

According to troopers, 43-year-old Thomas Castleberry Jr. threatened the unidentified woman to prevent her from leaving the campsite. Castleberry is also a convicted felon in Arizona, which forbids him from possessing any type of firearm.

Castleberry has been charged with third-degree assault, kidnapping and third-degree misconduct involving a weapon. He was taken to the Anchorage Correctional Complex, where he is being held on $50,000 bail, plus a third-party custodian.
