State Fair picks: Jason Derulo, beard contest, talent show and children's tractor pull

If you've tuned into a pop station at all in the last couple years, you've likely caught Jason Derulo's hit song "Talk Dirty," which was nearly unavoidable in 2014. The chart-topping artist, whose other singles include "Wiggle" and "The Other Side," will heat up the stage at the Anchorage Borealis Theatre 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $35 for a seat on the lawn and $65 in the reserved area (there's no seating at this show).

Theatre

"Spirit — The 7th Fire of Alaska"

This musical production mixes traditional Native American and Alaska Native arts with contemporary dance, all set to a pop music score. Shows at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday at The Gathering Place.

Kids activities

Children's Tractor Pull and Obstacle Course

In case you haven't yet had your fill of small children being adorable at the fair -- impossible, really -- catch the children's tractor pull. Children ages 4-7 will pull a small wagon on pedal tractors. 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Yellow Gate Lawn.

Talent show

"Alaska's Got Talent" Preliminaries

Competitors will vie to get into the finals -- and win a grand prize of $2,500 -- at this annual talent show. 4 p.m. Saturday at the Woodlot Stage. Finals are on Monday.

Beards

Alaska State Fair Beard and Mustache Contest

Who in Alaska is the beardliest of them all? Find out as the hirsute competitors showcase their facial hair at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodlot Stage.
