Ostrander begins college career with victory

Allie Ostrander of Kenai kicked off her college career the same way she ended her high school career – with a dominating victory.

Ostrander, a freshman at Boise State, won the six-kilometer women's cross country race in Friday's Dual in Speedway Meadow at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

She finished in 20 minutes, 44.4 seconds, beating teammate and runnerup Minttu Hukka by 14 seconds.

Ostrander was a three-time state cross country champion and set state records in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters in track for Kenai Central.
