Troopers: Palmer man told stepson to shoot at moose from road

A Palmer man was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers Saturday for allegedly instructing his stepson to shoot at a moose from a residential road.

After receiving reports of "unsafe shooting from a road" in the "direction of occupied homes," troopers arrived at a house on Vera Road in the area of Bodenburg Butte Saturday, troopers said in an online dispatch.

"Upon arrival and subsequent investigation, it was determined that Ryan D. Mangum, 45, of Palmer directed his minor stepson to shoot at a moose from a maintained borough roadway," the dispatch said.

Mangum was issued a summons for "directing his minor child to shoot from a maintained roadway," the dispatch said.
