Missing Wasilla man's case 'suspicious,' troopers say

Daniel Buckwalter's vehicle was found in the Meadow Lakes area on Aug. 12 -- but Alaska State Troopers seeking information from the public on him say he hasn't been heard from since Aug. 4.

Alaska State Troopers continue to seek a Wasilla man who disappeared under "suspicious circumstances" last month, with no new word since his vehicle was found more than six weeks ago.

Troopers released additional information on the case of 46-year-old Daniel Buckwalter on Monday. In an Aug. 8 initial dispatch, troopers said Buckwalter was reported missing Aug. 12 by someone who had last heard from him at about 3 p.m. Aug. 4.

"The Alaska Bureau of Investigation believes that Buckwalter's disappearance occurred under suspicious circumstances," troopers wrote.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said Monday she couldn't discuss what was suspicious about the circumstances under which Buckwalter went missing. She emphasized, however, that troopers are seeking any information about the days before his disappearance.

"Without renewed information, we can't see if our suspicions are without cause, or whether we're suspicious for good reason," Peters said. "Something that might seem trivial might be really good information for us."

Anyone with information on Buckwalter should call Palmer-based troopers at 907-745-2131 or Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 907-745-2333 or via its website.
