Aces trade Archambault's rights for 26-goal scorer Joe Perry

The Alaska Aces on Tuesday announced their fifth trade of the offseason, acquiring the ECHL rights to goal-scoring forward Joe Perry from the Quad City Mallards in exchange for the rights to goal-scoring winger Olivier Archambault.

Perry as a rookie with Quad City last season generated 26-17—43 totals and a plus-15 rating in 54 games. He also played six games (with one assist) for the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League. Iowa and Quad City are affiliates of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.

Archambault as a rookie last season delivered 20-18—38 totals and a plus-7 rating in 38 games for the Aces. He was summoned to Iowa (4-5—9 in 24 games) and never returned to Alaska. Strong chance Archambault starts the season in the AHL – he is currently in training camp with AHL Iowa.

Perry, 25, is a 6-foot-2, 216-pounder who played four seasons at Division III power St. Norbert. He went 24-13—37 in 37 games as a senior in 2013-14, when the Green Knights won the national championship. Perry had a goal in the title game – another goal scorer for St. Norbert in that game was Anchorage's Erik Cooper – and 5-2—7 totals in three NCAA tournament games that season.

In 115 career college games, Perry went 50-56—103.

In previous Aces trades, coach Rob Murray acquired the rights to defenseman Gleason Fournier from Florida for defenseman Corey Syvret; acquired the rights to forward Brodie Reid from Elmira for the rights to defenseman Brad Richard; and the rights to center Tyler Maxwell from Adirondack for the rights to center Greg Wolfe. Also, the Aces are owed "future considerations'' from Fort Wayne after sending the Komets the rights to defenseman Justin Harmonic.

Perry's acquisition brings to 20 the number of players the Aces have secured for the upcoming season. The breakdown: Nine forwards, nine defensemen, two goaltenders.
