Aces add 5 players ahead of training camp opening Friday

The Alaska Aces on Thursday morning announced some additions to their training camp roster one day ahead of their first practice of the season.

The Aces announced the return of winger Dean Chelios, who they acquired from the Indy Fuel late last season, and said they have also signed forward Dylan Hood. Also, forwards Hayden Trupp of Anchorage, the former Seawolf, and Steve Mele, brother of former Aces winger Tommy Mele, will be in training camp on tryouts. Local goaltender Jeff Barney, who occasionally helps out the Aces, will particpate in camp.

Chelios last season furnished the Aces 1-10—11 and plus-8 totals in 13 games. Hood in 32 ECHL games for three teams last season posted 3-2—5 and minus-5 totals. Trupp last season for UAA went 1-3—4 in 21 games. And Mele in 51 ECHL games for two teams last season went 8-8—16.

First practice is 10 a.m. Friday at Ben Boeke Arena.
