Shooter sought after bullet fired in air hits Palmer home

Alaska State Troopers are asking for help from the public to find out who fired a high-caliber bullet that penetrated a Palmer residence on Tuesday.

Troopers said in a Wednesday dispatch that they were called at about 1 p.m. Tuesday to the residence, off East Green Street, after a report of a round fired at the home. No injuries were reported in the incident.

"Investigation revealed someone shot a (.45-caliber round) in the air and it came down into a house, went through two walls, and into a bedroom," troopers wrote. "Damage to the house is estimated at $400."

According to troopers spokesperson Beth Ipsen, troopers haven't yet determined whether the house was deliberately targeted.

"It's unknown if it was intentional," Ipsen said.

Troopers ask that people firing weapons do so in a "safe direction." Anyone with information on who fired the round that hit the home Tuesday should call the Palmer trooper post at 907-352-5401.
