Troopers: Anchorage man wanted on multiple warrants caught after high-speed chase in Big Lake

An Anchorage man with multiple warrants out for his arrest led Alaska State Troopers on a high-speed chase in Big Lake early Thursday morning, troopers said.

Troopers initially tried to pull over a gold Chrysler Cirrus driven by 39-year-old Jeffrey Brigman at about 4:20 a.m. Thursday for a moving violation, troopers said in an online dispatch Friday. The car did not stop and eventually reached speeds of over 100 mph, troopers said.

The car stopped near Mile 2 of Susitna Parkway and Brigman ran. He was found at a nearby home, troopers said.

Investigation showed Brigman had four warrants out for his arrest, troopers said.

Brigman had failed to appear in court on charges of vehicle theft and driving under the influence. He failed to appear on charges of misconduct involving a controlled substance, he violated conditions of release and had violated parole for a manslaughter charge, troopers said.

In 2005, Brigman was convicted of manslaughter. He had been target-shooting in Kodiak. He and another man were intoxicated. Brigman tried to hand a gun he believed was empty to the other man. When the man reached for it, his hand hit the gun and caused it to go off into his chest, The Associated Press reported at the time.

Troopers on Thursday arrested Brigman for the warrants, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and eluding. They also arrested 50-year-old Rose Walker of Big Lake for hindering troopers' attempts to identify and contact Brigman.

Brigman and Walker were taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer. Brigman was held on $46,000 bail and Walker on $750 bail, troopers said.
