Mother accidentally runs over 4-year-old son, Palmer police say

A 4-year-old boy was partially run over in Palmer on Friday evening after he jumped out of his mother's car, Palmer Police Department Sgt. Jamie Hammons said.

According to Hammons, the mother was about to take her son sledding on a hill behind the old Carrs grocery store when the boy jumped out of the back seat of the car while she was reversing.

Hammons didn't immediately know the boy's condition, but said he appeared to have suffered back and neck injuries. When emergency responders got to the scene, the boy was breathing and conscious, Hammons said.

He was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment.

Police are not looking to file any criminal charges against the mother, Hammons said.
