A woman was shot in a South Anchorage condo Tuesday evening and is in critical condition, Anchorage police say.

The Anchorage Police Department received a report of a woman being shot at a condo on the 8800 block of Forest Village Drive -- across the street from Dimond High School -- just after 6:30 p.m., APD said in a release. She was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition, APD said.

Shortly before 9 p.m. police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said police had not arrested any suspects and added the "suspect(s) left the scene after the shooting." Officers were surveying the neighborhood with flashlights. One identified the home as number 8813, where a car in the driveway had shattered glass in the rear window.

"We are still in the process of interviewing witnesses and the female victim is undergoing treatment at the hospital in severe condition," Castro said.
