Body of missing Wrangell boater found

The body of a missing 53-year-old Wrangell boater whose return was more than a week overdue was recovered from Earl West Cove Wednesday, according to Alaska State Troopers.

In an online dispatch, troopers said Kenneth Trammel's body was spotted floating in the cove about 12 air miles southeast of Wrangell. His body was positively identified by next of kin in Wrangell, troopers said.

Trammel's 38-foot Bayliner, the Thalasa, was not located with his body.

According to troopers, no one heard from Trammel after he left Wrangell Nov. 5 for a five day fishing trip. He was set to return Nov. 10. On Sunday, troopers were notified that he was overdue.

Trammel's body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
