Service's Hanscom, West's Pierce outgun competition at Dimond riflery meet

In a riflery meet featuring the best two shooters from each of the Cook Inlet Conference's eight teams, Service's Logan Hanscom and West's Kendra Pierce outshot the competition Saturday at the Dimond A-1 Shoot Off.

The meet at Dimond High featured the top boy and top girl from each school.

Hansom topped the boys with a score of 578 that included a pair of perfect 100s fired from the prone position.

Pierce paced the girls, and was second overall, with a score of 576. Eagle River's Haylee Nicholson and Dimond's Morgan Byrne shot the only perfect scores among the girls, both of them posting 100 in prone shooting.

CIC teams have next week off and return to action Dec. 5 at the conference championships at West High.
